The Czech Republic has joined the list of countries to have expressed an interest in hosting an F1 event.

Plans have been proposed for a new circuit in the capital city of Prague, which would play host to a round of the DTM and could also be suitable for an F1 event in future.

Discussions are already underway with circuit designer Hermann Tilke about the proposed venue with work set to start next year.

"Formula One is the ambition," circuit boss Toni Charouz told AutoWeek. "If we put on a good show with the DTM, then maybe we can have a Grand Prix, but we've got nothing on paper yet.

"This track will be very central in a city of 1.5 million people. This type of track is the future of motor racing."

The Czech Republic already has one international circuit at Brno, which hosts MotoGP, World Superbikes and the World Touring Car Championship.
