Nico Rosberg has admitted that his focus for the 2010 F1 season has to be to fight for the championship title as he looks ahead to his first season with the Mercedes GP team.

Rosberg joins the team having spent his entire F1 career to date with Williams, and could yet form a German superteam with Michael Schumacher as speculation continues that the seven-time champion could come out of retirement to join the Silver Arrows.

Rosberg himself admitted that he doesn't know whether or not the speculation linking Schumacher with the role as his team-mate is true or not, but admitted it would be a 'fantastic move' if he was to come out of retirement and launch a comeback.

"At the moment I am driving both cars and I can choose which one!" he said. "Hopefully my team-mate will be known soon, the rumours are strong for Michael Schumacher but I don't know if it is true or not. If he were to join it would be a fantastic move.

"For me it would be a big challenge and a fantastic experience."

Regardless of who his team-mate turns out to be, Rosberg admitted that his main focus for 2010 has to be on securing silverware as Mercedes looks to continue the success enjoyed by Brawn GP this year.

"It's a dream come true for me to drive the Silver Arrows and I am looking forward to representing the team in the coming years," he said. "It is an honour to be the first German driver to drive for the Silver Arrows for such a long time and that is a great thing when you consider the heritage Mercedes has in motorsport.

"I really hope to get a lot of success with Mercedes in F1. I want to win races and to fight for the title."
