Senna to switch to Toro Rosso?

Scuderia Toro Rosso set to swoop for Bruno Senna should Campos Meta 1 fail to make the grid for F1 2010.
Bruno Senna may end up racing for Scuderia Toro Rosso in F1 2010, according to the latest speculation.

Bruno, the nephew of the late Ayrton Senna, inked a deal with 2010 F1 newcomer Campos Meta 1 back in October. However in recent days there have been claims that the Spanish outfit will not be on the grid in time for the beginning of the 2010 campaign – and indeed may never even make the starting grid in the top flight at all – due to financial difficulties [see separate story – click here].

Reports in Italy in Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport note that Brazilian sources say Toro Rosso has the 'right' to sign Senna should Campos Meta 1 fail to make the grid.

To date Toro Rosso has only confirmed one of its drivers for the new season, namely Sebastien Buemi. Furthermore while Jaime Alguersuari is believed to be the favourite to get the nod to drive the other STR car, he has yet to get the official okay.

Meanwhile Mirko Bortolotti, who tested for Toro Rosso during the young driver test at Jerez at end of last year, and who was linked to the team recently, has now apparently been dropped by Red Bull.

The Formula Two race winner was apart of Red Bull's young driver programme last year, but he has not yet been listed for 2010.

More to follow as and when it develops...

doesn't make sense. if they wanted Senna why didn't they just hire him from the start instead of letting him sign with Campos Meta and now have to wait to see if the team folds. BS story imo and its been doing the rounds with the bs that Campos has folded. seems to me that the testing restrictions is leaving great big ghaping holes in the journolists time and they are writng BS to keep up the interest till the first tests.

I've seen a couple of his GP2 races and he's actually really good, especially in the wet so yea, his name helps but I do think he genuinely deserves a seat! There's, in theory, 26 seats this season, Bruno deserves one of them. Plus we would then have a Schumacher and a Senna on the grid :D
