Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali has said that he is confident Fernando Alonso will be able to get the better of Michael Schumacher in F1 2010.
Schumacher won five of his seven drivers' titles with Ferrari - the last in 2004 - but the German has now opted for a new challenge having inked a deal with Mercedes, which will see him make his comeback this year.
Alonso beat Schumacher to the title in 2005 and 2006 and Domenicali believes that the Spaniard can defeat him again in 2010.
"Let's not forget Fernando is the only driver on the track who in his career has beaten Michael (to the world championship)," Domenicali said during a press conference at the Scuderia's pre-season extravaganza held in Madonna di Campiglio.
"Fernando has everything to beat him."
Schumacher's decision to leave Ferrari has not gone down well with the tifosi
, the Scuderia's fanatical fans, but Domenicali is determined to use it as a positive to motivate his troops that bit more.
Furthermore, he believes that Felipe Massa will be able to get the better of Schumacher as well.
"Of course, it is right not to forget that what has happened has left its mark. But now we have to turn the page," Domenicali continued.
"He decided to accept this challenge so I think that he is convinced that he has the possibility to prevail, confirming the confidence we had in him after Felipe Massa's accident.
"Now he's a competitor though and we'll give it our all to be ahead of him, as we do with all the others, too. For the whole Team his decision is a further stimulus.
"We have to show Michael that this is a strong team. We want to win. We thought of Michael last year because he is an extraordinary and strong driver. But Fernando and Felipe are able to beat him even if Michael is still very strong," Domenicali concluded.
