Bruno Senna will not drive for Toro Rosso in F1 2010, Red Bull's motorsport consultant Dr Helmut Marko has confirmed.

Rumours linking Senna to Red Bull's 'B' team started after there were reports F1 newcomer Campos Meta F1 might not have the funds to compete in 2010. This fuelled talk the Brazilian might switch to STR, especially as the squad has still not officially announced Jaime Alguersuari.

Speaking to 422race.com, Marko added though that Alguersuari will get the nod to continue.

"It's not true," he replied when asked about the Bruno Senna speculation. "I've never heard about it.

"It will be Alguersuari. It's just some contractual details that have to be solved, but generally it's Alguersuari.

"I don't know when the official announcement will be, Mr. [Franz] Tost [STR team boss] knows exactly when."

Marko meanwhile added that Formula Two race winner Mirko Bortolotti has been dropped from Red Bull's young driver programme.

"It's true, yes. We offered him an F2 seat, but we wanted him to move to Milton Keynes, where all our other drivers are, like [Daniel] Ricciardo and [Brendon] Hartley. They all are working on the simulator and so on, so to have a comparison. And he declined to go to England. That's why we stopped it," he explained.
