FIA visit USF1?

USF1 comes under the microscope as FIA sends officials to check-out the progress of the beleaguered North Carolina-based outfit.
2010 F1 newcomer, USF1 was due to be visited by FIA race director and technical department head Charlie Whiting on Wednesday.

According to reports by autoweek.com Whiting flew to the United States on Tuesday and went to the team's Charlotte base on Wednesday morning.

Although trips to F1 teams are said to be part of his 'normal schedule', the current one is believed to be more significant, especially as the health of the American team has been the subject of so much speculation.

Indeed USF1 team principal Ken Anderson recently confirmed that he is in discussions with the sport's governing body in an effort to gain special dispensation for the beleaguered North Carolina-based outfit to skip the opening four grand's prix of the forthcoming campaign [see separate story – click here].

In addition there is also talk that USF1 and Campos Meta 1 could merge [see separate story - click here].

Whatever the truth though, there has been no confirmation from either the FIA or USF1 that the visit took place.

damp mongoose. there is no reason to doubt these "rumours" which have been posted on various websites. obviously, in view of all the weird statements from usf1 and their disgruntled employees, the fia would send a team to check, as they could be depriving another team of the grid spot. just because fia neither confirm or deny the report, is usually reason tosuspect that it is fact!
