Schumacher looking to find rhythm

Michael Schumacher prepares for his second outing for Mercedes in Melbourne
Michael Schumacher says he is looking forwards to 'one of the highlights' of the 2010 F1 season next weekend as he makes a return to the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

The seven-time champion made his first outing since coming out of retirement in Bahrain, securing a sixth place finish, and now heads to Australia hoping to add to his points tally.

Having declared himself happy with his return, Schumacher said his aim in Melbourne was to 'get into the rhythm more' in the second race of the season and insisted he was looking forward to race day.

“Australia has always been one of the highlights on the Formula One calendar and this has never changed for me in all my years of competing,” the Mercedes ace said. “As in previous times, I arrived on the continent quite early and have spent some nice days training, adapting and relaxing in order to be fit and rested for the race weekend. I have a lot of good memories from Melbourne and most of the time, we saw interesting races there.

“I am very happy with the outcome of the season opener in Bahrain. Sixth position was good for me, especially considering how few times I have driven an F1 car since my retirement. I am sure that Melbourne will help me to get into the rhythm even more and I am looking forward to it.”

MS holds the record for the fastest lap at Albert's Park since 2004. I may be a McLaren fan but I have lots of respect for MS here. Politics aside, lets give credit where credit is due.

How could you not come to Australia and feel relaxed together with gathering good memories. Then again I could be biased? One of the things just off topic. Vodaphone have been endeavouring to bring our V8 Champ Jamie Whincup(888-who are sponsored by Vodaphone) together with his F1 champion counterpart. Well at Melbourne for promotional purposes Whincup will have a drive of a F1 McLaren and Button a drive of the 888 V8 Ride Car which they are setting as close as they can to the real machine. All promotional but should be good fun. Jamie is certainly looking forward to it together with making the rest of the V8 field envious who are the support act for the F1 Show.
