Following comments from Williams technical director Sam Michael that revealed that the Formula One Teams Association was set to choose between Michelin and Cooper Avon, [See HERE] Pirelli has revealed that it will present a proposal to both the FIA and the teams before the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend with a view to making a return to the sport.

Pirelli was last present in F1 back in 1991.

"Pirelli communicates its decision to present a technical and commercial offer for supply of tyres to all the teams in the Formula 1 world championship," a statement issued by Pirelli read. "The company plans to present the bid to the FIA and Formula One Administration Limited by 9 May, the date of the next Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held in Spain."

Reports suggesting the Pirelli was considering a return first surfaced last week, although those reports suggested that a number of conditions would need to be met – including increasing wheel size to 18 inches and making teams contribute financially to any deal.
