Vettel hints again at Ferrari future

Whilst happily ensconced at Red Bull Racing for now, not for the first time, joint F1 2010 World Championship leader Sebastian Vettel has intimated that he could be Ferrari-bound one day...
Ferrari is arguably the one team that every F1 driver would like to race for at some stage during their career, and now joint 2010 world championship leader Sebastian Vettel has re-iterated that if he were to eventually end up driving one of the scarlet machines, it would not displease him in the slightest.

Just over a year ago, Vettel confessed that 'it has always been my goal to one day drive for Ferrari', and whilst some might opine that he would be mad to leave Red Bull Racing right now – given that the Adrian Newey-designed RB6 is by common consent the fastest thing around on four wheels – were the Scuderia to come calling in the years to come, it seems, the German would likely listen with interest.

“I am very happy with Red Bull,” the sport's youngest-ever grand prix-winner told Spanish newspaper El Pais. “I am not going anywhere else, but in the future, I don't know. I want to fight for the world championship, and if you look at the past, Ferrari has always designed very competitive cars.

“Ferrari is unlike any other team – it's a legend. There are other brands that achieve great success, but Ferrari is special. Why not go there in a few years?”

Of late, it is Vettel's in-form team-mate Mark Webber that has been more closely linked with the Prancing Horse [see separate story – click here], but there are suggestions that hugely-influential F1 commercial rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone is pulling strings behind-the-scenes to ensure that sooner or later, the man from Heppenheim will be Maranello-bound.

“I don't think that's true,” the 22-year-old countered. “I have a good relationship with Bernie, but fortunately I will decide my future.”

Hmmm! Now he puts it out there! Now that Webber is kicking his ass! Maybe, he isn't feeling the love at Redbull like before (lol)! Remember when he was winning and pointing his finger at everybody! The pressure is on and Webber is taken it to 'em! Time to raise your game, Seb!!! :p
