Massa delighted with new Ferrari deal

Felipe Massa insists he is delighted to remain with Ferrari for two more seasons
Felipe Massa admits it is 'just fantastic' to have signed a new deal to remain with Ferrari beyond the end of the current season.

The Brazilian was out of contract at the end of 2010 with rumours suggesting that he could be replaced at the end of the current campaign.

However, Ferrari confirmed this week that Massa has signed up for the next two seasons and the Brazilian admitted he was relieved to have his future sorted out.

“From the driver point of view it is just fantastic to re-sign for Ferrari,” he told the Thursday press conference in Montreal ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. “It shows that everybody from the team trusts you. I think that is a very good point for me to keep pushing harder and harder all the time and to keep working together with the team to achieve the best.

“That is everything I want and everything the team wants and so very happy to stay a little bit more time with Ferrari which is a team I always dreamed to race for. This is my fifth championship (season) with Ferrari and to say we stay for another two years is just a fantastic feeling.”

Massa added that he hadn't been concerned about rumours linking both Robert Kubica and Mark Webber with his seat, insisting it was part of life in F1.

“Since I came to Ferrari there have been different rumours every year,” he said. “I don't care. I just care about what I want, I just care about my job in the team and for what I see, how the people are working and how they respect me. That's the most important thing, not what we hear. I would say every year that I have raced for Ferrari all the rumours have not been true, so what can I say?

Massa's extended deal has already been welcomed by team-mate Fernando Alonso, who told Ticionline that 'stability is important for the success of the team'.
