Kubica reprimanded over pit entry

Robert Kubica is handed a reprimand by FIA stewards for dangerous pit entry in Montreal
Robert Kubica has been reprimanded by race stewards for a dangerous entry to the pitlane during the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Renault ace was fighting for position with Adrian Sutil in the run up to one his pitstops and was behind the Force India driver as the pair approached the final chicane.

As Sutil slowed for the corner, Kubica dived to the inside before then cutting across his rival to go into the pits, with the pair narrowly avoiding a coming together.

After looking into the incident, stewards elected to hit Kubica with a reprimand although he escaped a more severe penalty.

Kubica himself insisted that Sutil braking early for the corner had left him with no option but to go around the Force India man.

“I was racing him on my in-lap and we were side by side before the last corner,” he said. “I was on the right, so I backed off and pulled behind him to take my line for the pits, but he braked very early and hard: I had to go round him to avoid causing an accident.”

Kubica ended the race in seventh place, admitting afterwards the six points gained were his 'toughest of the season'.

Mr Proton, Hamilton only leaves the pits when his team let him. Its not his fault they keep releasing him into the paths of other cars. What's he meant to do, park it until they've gone? The stewards really need to have a word with Whitmarsh about the Macca pit crew, and if it keeps happening then fine the team, not punish the driver. Felt a bit sorry for Kubica getting reprimanded when he didn't have much choice where to go either, but the stewards did a good job this weekend I thought. Even if they did seem to be hell bent on ruining Petrov's race.
