Button warns: There's more to come

Jenson Button warns there is more to come from him during the second half of the F1 season
Jenson Button has warned his rivals there is 'still more to come' after moving into second in the F1 standings in Canada.

Button finished second to team-mate Lewis Hamilton for the second successive race in Montreal and now trails his fellow McLaren driver by just three points in the standings after eight races.

McLaren has also moved 22 points clear of Red Bull in the constructors' championship and Button admitted that things were looking good heading towards the middle of the season.

"If you had told me before Turkey we would be in our position now, it would have been quite hard to believe," he told the Press Association. "That is because at every race the Red Bulls have been quick, but then it's been a very mixed season so far, with different people at the front. But with two one-two finishes, yes, I'd have been surprised.

"Naturally, with those one-twos, I'd rather have been in front, but I haven't been, yet I've still picked up some really good points. We're eight races in and there are just three points between us, so it's looking fantastic.”

Button then warned that there is still more to come as he continues to feel more at home within McLaren, having already won twice this season following his switch from Brawn GP.

"To have won the world championship last year, to have moved teams, and now be racing alongside Lewis and fighting for the championship again, is a great feeling for me,” he said. "I've had a good season so far, but there's more to come."

Bloody impressive driving so far, and an astute tactical driver to boot. Hamilton has clearly had to pick up his act in the garage next door. Brawn did you a big favor last year...and the last laugh is yours, and you didn't say a word. I think Nick Fry has fallen through the cracks somewhere, maybe you could offer him a tissue to dry his eyes if he ever resurfaces.
