Dennis' Silverstone stunt leaves Jordan 'spitting feathers'

From a man described as one of the most aloof members of the paddock during his three decades as McLaren team principal, it seems time away from F1 has mellowed Ron Dennis somewhat. Not that Eddie Jordan appreciated it much at Silverstone last weekend...
He might not have been particularly known for his light-hearted japery or tomfoolery during his days as McLaren team principal, but it would seem that since stepping down from the forefront of F1, Ron Dennis has acquired more than a touch of Dennis the Menace about him – much to Eddie Jordan's chagrin at Silverstone last weekend.

According to The Sun, former team owner-turned-BBC F1 pundit Jordan was interviewing Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner about the latest controversy to have engulfed the energy drinks-backed outfit in the immediate aftermath of the British Grand Prix, when it is understood the mischievous Dennis cut the wires from the control box on the Irishman's belt to his earpiece live on-air.

The McLaren chairman – sporting a VIP paddock pass over the weekend – was spotted standing behind Jordan at the beginning of the interview, but subsequently 'disappeared into the crowd smiling'. His victim, it seems, was not impressed.

“Eddie was really spitting feathers and wanted the BBC to charge Dennis with criminal damage,” revealed a source from Auntie, reflecting on the 'sabotage'.

Dennis has since contacted the Beeb over the matter, it is claimed, though there has of yet been no formal apology made.
