Williams test driver Valtteri Bottas says he is looking to make the step up into an F1 race seat - but not until the 2012 season.

The F3 Euroseries racer secured the reserve role with Williams this season and has conducted straightline testing with the team as well as work in the Grove factory.

While unlikely to find himself in a race seat with Williams for 2011, Bottas revealed he is confident of securing a drive for the following year while continuing his apprenticeship next season.

"Williams is not likely to change drivers for next season, but 2012 might be different," he told the Finnish publication Turun Sanomat. "After the season, I would like to do the young drivers test in Abu Dhabi. The next step [beyond F3] would be GP2 for 2011. Williams will probably be involved with the decision about the team when the time comes."

Bottas admitted that working with Mika Hakkinen - who acts as his manager - was proving to be beneficial in helping his career move forwards.

"My career is in good hands," he said, "and I would never have reached this point without them."
