Hartley, Grosjean move back towards F1

Romain Grosjean and Brendon Hartley agree deals to move back towards involvement in the F1 paddock
Romain Grosjean and Brendon Hartley have moved back towards the F1 grid after securing places in the GP2 field for this weekend's Monza event.

Grosjean has contested recent events with the DAMS team in place of Jerome D'Ambrosio and then Ho-Pin Tung, and will remain in place for the Italian weekend as Tung continues to work towards full fitness following his accident at the Hungaroring.

However, as well as retaining his DAMS drive, Grosjean has also agreed a deal to join the Gravity Sport organisation, which is the management of arm of the Genii Capital group which owns the Renault F1 team.

Grosjean drove for Renault last season when the team was owned wholly by the French manufacturer.

"Such a partner will enable me to concentrate on my return to top-level single-seater racing,” he said, “and I hope to attain my main aim, which is still Formula One."

Hartley meanwhile will make a return to racing having lost his Renault World Series drive after he was dropped by the Red Bull junior programme – a move which also saw him leave his role as F1 test driver for the team.

The New Zealander will now seek the impress the watching F1 teams after agreeing a deal to drive for Coloni for the remainder of the season.

"We face a really big task at Monza as Brendon has never driven a GP2 car," admitted team boss Paulo Coloni, "but he has great experience in high-powered cars."
