Perez earns Ferrari academy role

Ferrari signs Sergio Perez to its Driver Academy
Newly announced Sauber driver Sergio Perez has been named as the latest addition to the Ferrari Driver Academy.

The 20-year-old will make the move into F1 next season alongside Kamui Kobayashi, with Sauber's links to Ferrari helping the Mexican to earn a role with the Scuderia's driver development programme.

Perez will now be able to access Ferrari's development programme as he embarks on his maiden season in F1, which comes with Telmex having agreed to back Sauber next year.

After an impressive showing in British F3 and GP2, Perez is regarded as a potential star of the future in F1.

GP2 driver Jules Bianchi and Mirkko Bortolotti are amongst the other members of the FDA.
