Red Bull Racing has agreed a two-year extension to its current partnership with French engine manufacturer Renault, it has been announced today.
In recognition of the renewed partnership, the Milton Keynes-based outfit will feature 'greater
Renault visibility' starting from this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix, the penultimate round in the F1 2010 championship.
The
Renault logo will also appear on the noses of both Adrian Newey-designed RB6s and its name will be on the visors of both
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber's race helmets.
“We're pleased to announce this extension,” said
Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner. “We have always enjoyed a very straightforward relationship with
Renault and they have supported us extremely fairly during the past four seasons, contributing to our thirteen grand prix victories so far.
"The relationship continues to evolve and we look forward to working with them during our 2011
Formula One World Championship campaign.”
“Renault is delighted to announce an expanded agreement with
Red Bull Racing," continued Bernard Rey, President of
Renault Sport.
“We remain firm believers in the benefits of our successful involvement in F1: it positions
Renault as a technological leader, and boosts awareness of the brand across the globe."
Meanwhile in a separate development,
Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz added that his team could build its own engines when the new deal with
Renault expires at the end of 2012.
“We will remain with
Renault [for now],” he told Austrian newspaper,
Kleine Zeitung. “But we are on stand-by for an interesting partnership - and could even develop our own engine [in the future]. I do not consider that an absurd idea anymore.”
