Pastor Maldonado will test with Hispania Racing in Abu Dhabi at the end of the season, the Spanish team has confirmed.
Maldonado, who won the GP2 Series title this season – F1's main feeder category - and who is also due to test for Williams at the Yas Marina Circuit, will run on three of the four days with HRT F1. This will be his second F1 test, as he also did some miles for Minardi at Misano back in 2004.
"It will be something special to test with Hispania Racing after being the GP2 champion," he said. "It will definitely be an experience and one I am looking forward to very much.
"My previous experience [in the lower formulas] will be very important, at this test in particular. Having the experience that I do can only help me adapt to a new, more complex category. I know as well that it has only increased my determination to be successful.
"The three days will be very important. I hope to contribute to the development of the team and to accumulate as much experience as possible."
Maldonado will be only the second Venezuelan driver to drive an F1 car and he concedes that will make it even more special: "It is quite simply an honour to be only the second Venezuelan driver after Johnny Cecotto, who drove nearly three decades ago. I have much to be grateful for being given this opportunity," he concluded.
