Karun Chandhok has returned to action in GP2 machinery today [Thursday] after agreeing to join Ocean Racing Technology for its first run with the new 2011-spec car.
With the Paul Ricard test being seen as vital as teams face the prospect of limited testing, ORT called on the services of the Indian racer, who has extensive experience of competing in GP2 prior to his graduation to F1 with Hispania Racing at the start of the year.
"I am very happy to go to Paul Ricard to help my old team,” the 26-year-old said. “I really hope my experience in Formula 1 and in GP2 will be helpful to Ocean.
“My goal for 2011 is to remain in Formula 1, but for the time being is good to have the opportunity of knowing the new GP2 car and help Ocean to obtain to better setting."
The test also marked the first time that GP2 teams had run the new Pirelli tyres that will be used in the series next year.
