Alonso: The worst is over

Fernando Alonso vows to fight for the F1 title in 2011 and says the 'worst is over' for Ferrari
Despite missing out on the 2010 F1 title, Fernando Alonso insists that Ferrari has shown that the 'worst is over' as the Scuderia switches its focus to 2011.

After a difficult 2009 season, Ferrari bounced back to form this year with Alonso winning five times en-route to second in the championship standings.

The Spaniard had topped the title race going into the season finale before losing out to Sebastian Vettel in Abu Dhabi but despite that disappointment, Alonso insisted the future was bright for his team.

"There's definitely a lot of sadness but at the same time thinking that 2011 will arrive soon when we can win as we know we can," he told broadcaster Rai. "[Disappointment] happens when you are second in any sport; Wimbledon, Roland Garros, the World Cup, NBA - there is always a feeling of sadness.

"From 2011, I am expecting a lot. 2009 was a difficult year for Ferrari but now we are back in form and the worst is over."

In the same interview, Alonso also congratulated Vettel on taking the championship for the first time.

"He was the fastest of all, with 10 pole positions and some mechanical problems that took points away from him, but he won in the end,” he said. "Congratulations, but we hope that next year is more difficult for him.”

Reading some of the comments on here.. I can only laugh! Go on Brits (cuz most of them are just blind hamilton lovers) give me something to laugh about. You know what, it's very funny that everyone just sticks to the Alonso bad boy image etc.. You should know the truth. The guy is a genius behind the wheel and an angel outside the car, nothing more nothing less.
