Toro Rosso confirms launch date for F1 2011 car

Scuderia Toro Rosso becomes the second team to reveal the launch date for its new 2011 machine.

Scuderia Toro Rosso has announced today that it will launch its F1 2011 challenger on February 1 2011.

The Ferrari-powered car – the STR6 - will be unveiled in the pitlane at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo at around 9 am local time, ahead of the opening day of pre-season testing at the Spanish track.

Toro Rosso has yet to confirm its drivers for next season, although team principal Franz Tost is expected to retain both Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari. Daniel Ricciardo will act as the teams official test and reserve driver having signed a deal, which will also see him run in Friday practice, last month.

STR is just the second team to set a date to launch its 2011 car, following on from Sauber Motorsport, which will unveil its machine, the C30, at the Spanish track the day before.

Would love to hear Ricciardo has cemented a seat and not just reserve driver. He's damn fast!
