Rosberg: Mercedes will win

Nico Rosberg: The results were not there where we want them to be [in 2010]. We wanted to be winning races. However I am really confident that with the team we have and the people involved, we are going to get there.

Nico Rosberg has said it is 'just a matter of time' before Mercedes GP is regularly winning races.

Rosberg enjoyed a good season in F1 2010, and scored almost twice as many points as his illustrious team-mate, seven-time F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, en-route to securing seventh place in the drivers' championship.

While he conceded recently that the season wasn't that great for the Mercedes GP Petronas team as a whole, he was still pleased with his own performances.

“From my point of view it was okay because I beat Michael, which was important. But at the same time the results were not there where we want them to be. We wanted to be winning races,” Rosberg said while in Stuttgart at the Mercedes DTM party.

“However I am really confident that with the team we have and the people involved, we are going to get there. It is just a matter of time.”

Mercedes boss Norbert Haug is similarly confident the Brackley-based squad can perform in 2011 and push the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren.

“F1 was a learning year [in 2010],” he added. “It was the first year for our new team. We had to learn. I think we have excellent drivers though and we have a very good engine, but we need to improve further our chassis. We all know that and we can do that.

“We have a fantastic crew, fantastic people and we are going to make a big step [in 2011],” Haug concluded.

MICHAEL SCHUMACHER WILL BE BACK ON THE PODIUM IN 2011 - perhaps with Rosberg by his side - which would be great for the whole team. Rosberg you seem a nice young German driver,a good driver, but you will never be in the same class as the MAESTRO.Just look and learn from the KING of F1,you are a lucky young man. Norbert give the King the car he deserves,we are watching! LONG LIVE THE KING OF F1,LOOK UP AT THE NIGHT SKY AND SEE HIS ILLUSTRIOUS NAME LIT UP BY THE STARS. **** MICHAEL SCHUMACHER ****

I think there is some merrit in the assumption that the germans are meddling too much with RB and want too much influence in their team. 2010 it sometimes felt as if RB was under a lot of pressure from Haug and Co, that certainly can not be good for a team. Another thing is that MS and RB in the past had superb support from JT at Ferrari - look what they accomplished. Merc need to really listen to RB, MS etc. in order for them to get it right second time round... Only time will tell whether or not they will succeed...
