Nico Rosberg: The results were not there where we want them to be [in 2010]. We wanted to be winning races. However I am really confident that with the team we have and the people involved, we are going to get there.
Nico Rosberg has said it is 'just a matter of time' before Mercedes GP is regularly winning races.
Rosberg enjoyed a good season in F1 2010, and scored almost twice as many points as his illustrious team-mate, seven-time F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher,
en-route to securing seventh place in the drivers' championship.
While he conceded recently that the season wasn't that great for the Mercedes GP Petronas team as a whole, he was still pleased with his own performances.
“From my point of view it was okay because I beat Michael, which was important. But at the same time the results were not there where we want them to be. We wanted to be winning races,” Rosberg said while in Stuttgart at the Mercedes
DTM party.
“However I am really confident that with the team we have and the people involved, we are going to get there. It is just a matter of time.”
Mercedes boss Norbert Haug is similarly confident the Brackley-based squad can perform in 2011 and push the likes of Red Bull,
Ferrari and McLaren.
“F1 was a learning year [in 2010],” he added. “It was the first year for our new team. We had to learn. I think we have excellent drivers though and we have a very good engine, but we need to improve further our chassis. We all know that and we can do that.
“We have a fantastic crew, fantastic people and we are going to make a big step [in 2011],” Haug concluded.
