Australian GP to auction F1 outing

Australian GP bosses offer a passenger ride to fans in order to raise funds for victims of the Queensland floods
Organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have launched an auction for a ride in a two-seater F1 car during the race weekend in order to raise money for victims of the flooding in Queensland.

The auction, running through eBay, will see one lucky person get the chance to ride in the two-seater Minardi machine, which is 'powered by 700bhp-plus V10 racing engine and features a similar type of chassis construction, suspension, brakes and tyres as the cars competing in this year's championship'.

The auction runs until the end of next week and all funds raised will be donated to the Flood Relief Appeal.

"To experience the power of a two-seater F1 hitting speeds of 300 kilometres per hour is normally a money-can't-buy opportunity,” acting chief executive of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation Andrew Westacott said. "By auctioning this amazing experience we hope to raise a significant amount to support Queenslanders."

Full details of the auction can be found by clicking HERE, although it is only open to residents of Australia or New Zealand.

As well as the F1 ride, the winner of the auction will also win a pair of four-day grandstand tickets to the race weekend.
