China in doubt?

FIA to conduct final inspection of Shanghai International Circuit in March.

The Chinese Grand Prix will not get approval to go ahead until March - even though the event is scheduled to take place on April 17.

The Shanghai International Circuit will host the fourth round in this year's FIA F1 World Championship, but the race is still provisional and listed with a asterisk next to it, reading 'subject to circuit approval', as its homologation licence has expired. The FIA, the sport's governing body, has yet to issue a new one as it wants certain changes made to improve the drainage system and track surface.

“The Shanghai International Circuit has confirmed that all work as requested by the FIA will be carried out and should be completed by the end of February,” a spokesperson for the FIA told Reuters this week.

“Before a new licence can be issued [though], the FIA will carry out a final inspection in March.”

Sensationalised reporting of a problem that doesn't exist yet. Worth noting but not calling in to doubt the race just yet. If they fail the inspection or its requested it be pushed back... well that's a different matter.
