Grosjean announces Renault return

Romain Grosjean to return to Renault for the 2011 F1 campaign
Romain Grosjean is set to return to the Renault team after revealing that he has accepted an offer to take up the role of test and reserve driver for the 2011 season.

Grosjean held the role back in 2009 where he was ultimately promoted into a race seat after the departure of Nelson Piquet Jr, although he failed to score a point in his time behind the wheel and then found himself forced to look for a drive elsewhere for 2010.

After a season in FIA GT1 and GP2, Grosjean has now revealed that he will rejoin Renault to act as reserve behind Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov, with the deal set to be officially confirmed by the team when it launches in 2011 challenger later this morning.

Grosjean will also return to GP2 this season alongside his F1 role.

"2011 will be my comeback year with a third driver spot at Lotus Renault and a whole season in GP2 and GP2 Asia with the Dams team," he told automoto.fr. "To be third pilot... allows me to gain a huge amount of experience, to be in the paddock, to see people, and to understand what I was lacking in my first Formula One experience.

"Now my idea is to be a race driver in 2012."
