Sergio Perez was left to rue a lack of track time on his first outing as an F1 race driver on the second day of pre-season testing in Spain.
The Mexican took over at the wheel from team-mate Kamui Kobayashi but saw his time on track during the morning restricted by an issue with the rear bodywork on the Sauber C30.
A power train issue in the afternoon then further hampered the rookie as the team worked to trace the cause of the problem – without success – leaving Perez down in tenth place on the times from 42 laps.
“It was a difficult day with not much running and we obviously could not complete our programme,” he said. “But for me it was still good to get my first laps in the new car, and I am beginning to feel confident with it.
“I'm looking forward to tomorrow and hope we can do a lot of running with proper set up work.”
