Chandhok to test for Lotus

Karun Chandhok to test for Team Lotus in Spain
Karun Chandhok is to test with Team Lotus this week in Spain as he continues to work towards a test and reserve role with the team for the 2011 F1 season.

The Indian was an interested spectator at the Valencia sessions last week and will now spend time in the car during the session at Jerez, which gets underway on Thursday.

As well as the Jerez session, Chandhok is also set to spent time at the wheel at the third pre-season test of the year in Barcelona before any deal is signed.

"We would like him to be reserve driver but we've got to see whether it all works out, that's the plan," team principal Tony Fernandes told Reuters. "He is going to get a couple of slots in the testing now in Jerez and Barcelona, nd then we'll decide after that.

"(Technical head) Mike (Gascoyne) and (team CEO) Riad (Asmat) and everyone else feel he's the right guy to add value to the team."

Anthony Davidson is sitting in a commentary booth because he sucks. Sorry to have to be the one to point that out and I know that I'll be getting lots of thumbs down but it's true. He got beaten at Super Aguri by Sato, and the only impact Sato ever make in F1 was with a crash barrier (ooh, another unpopular thing to say. I'm sure Chadhok is a nice guy and all, but he's yet another one in the long line of recent F1 drivers who are only there because they have lots of cashmoney. Sad but true.
