Schumacher: We have to keep pushing

Michael Schumacher urges Mercedes to keep pushing after topping F1 test times at Jerez
Michael Schumacher insists that Mercedes needs to 'keep pushing' despite setting the pace on the second of pre-season testing at Jerez.

The German took over at the wheel of the W02 from team-mate Nico Rosberg for the second day of the session and emerged quickest with a time set during a shorter run during the morning.

Schumacher then focused on a series of longer runs as the day wore on to focus on tyre evaluation and set-up work and the seven-time champion declared himself pleased with the way the day had panned out.

"It clearly was a productive day, and obviously I am happy about that,” he said. “We were focusing on long runs and being able to produce such a lot of mileage is positive in terms of reliability. It also gives us good data for the test days to come and for the developments we are working on. We are moving forward as we should during the testing period but at the same time, we are aware we have to keep pushing."

Schumacher continues at the wheel of the car tomorrow, with Rosberg back in action on Sunday.
