Tyre progress for Red Bull

Red Bull pleased with progress on the new Pirelli tyres at the conclusion of Jerez test
Red Bull Racing said it was happy with the progress made on understanding the new Pirelli tyres at the conclusion of the latest pre-season F1 test at Jerez.

Defending champion Sebastian Vettel was at the wheel of the RB7 for the final day as the team focused on a series of longer runs to check out the durability of the new tyres, while also evaluating a series of different set-ups in an effort to get the best out of the new rubber.

Having also tested a number of aerodynamic components and suspension development parts, Vettel ended the day with the eighth quickest time with the team confident in the progress made over the four days.

“It's been a pretty solid test overall,” head of race engineering Ian Morgan said. “We've got some good mileage and the car has been reliable.

“Our main focus during the test has been on understanding the tyres and how to get the best from them and I think we've made some good progress with that.”
