McLaren suffered a frustrating end to the latest F1 test at Jerez with the weather and a mechanical failure affecting Jenson Button's second day of running in the new MP4-26.

The team had faced a delay in its programme on Saturday due to a shortage of spare parts and suffered again on Sunday when a component failure left Button sitting on the sidelines during the afternoon.

Up to that point, the blustery conditions had ensured that Button wasn't happy with his car and he was only able to post the ninth quickest time - slower than he had managed in his first day at the wheel on Friday.

"A frustrating day of running, with windy conditions compromising our data gathering programme and affecting efforts to find a satisfactory set-up for the MP4-26," McLaren's end of day statement read.

"Jenson was unable to find a suitable balance with the car, and the team's progress was brought to an early end in the middle of the afternoon following the failure of an internal component
