] and posted a best time of 1min 27.044secs – more than a second quicker than Narain Karthikeyan had managed on the opening day.
Having lost his drive with Force India despite having a contract in place for 2011, Hispania is the only remaining chance for Liuzzi to stay in a race seat for the year ahead and he admitted that talks were planned, even if there are also options for testing roles elsewhere on the grid.
“We'll talk in the next few days and see what comes. It's open at the moment,” he told the BBC
. “We have a few things I'm working on, there are talks elsewhere [in F1] but we are not talking about driving as we know the only seat available is Hispania.”
Liuzzi added that his day behind the wheel of the Hispania car had shown him he still has the desire to compete in F1 despite the nature of his departure from Force India over the winter.
“Back home I was thinking what to do, if I wanted to be back or not,” he said. “But when you jump on the track and it is what you love, you feel really good. It's a big relief and I felt happy when Hispania gave me this chance.”
