Positive end for McLaren

Lewis Hamilton puts plenty of miles on the new McLaren on the final day in Barcelona
Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a positive end to testing in Barcelona after completing the largest number of laps in a single day for McLaren 's new MP4-26.

The Briton managed 107 laps of the Catalunya circuit en-route to the fifth quickest time as he worked through a lengthy programme focused on tyre development.

That meant Hamilton wasn't focused on chasing lap times but was instead keen to see how the Pirelli tyres would work throughout a race stint.

“It was very encouraging to log over 100 laps with MP4-26 today – an impressive conclusion to our four days in Barcelona,” McLaren test team manager Indy Lall said.

“We're still working through a very lengthy development programme – today wasn't about pure performance, it was about conducting a disciplined series of long-runs – but it's been a positive end to our test here.”

I just Mc Laren live up to their high expectation of their new 26. They (themselves) have hyped up the new car before it's official launch in Berlin, so they will look stupid if it is not an immediate front runner. I'm a fan of Mc Laren, however I have heard this all before i.e. their car has a lot of potential to be unlocked. Yet it always seems that there platform in recent years has not been as strong as the Ferrari or the Red Bull.

Well I hope it was posotive and I hope more posotive things are to come after reading: "Mercedes has poor traction, McLaren looks shocking as if on cold tyres, Red Bull+Ferrari+Renault Lotus Lada+Williams all pounding round"
