Glock discharged after appendix op

Timo Glock leaves hospital to continue his recovery after surgery for appendicitis.

Virgin Racing's Timo Glock is now back at home recovering after having had his appendix removed.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery in Switzerland on Monday [see separate story – click here].

“Great news,” he said via his official Twitter account on Wednesday. “(I) can leave hospital today!!! (I am going) straight back home. But unfortunately more recovery (awaits me), no training. That's boring.”

Writing earlier today he added: “Mega weather. I am just able to do a little walk. How boring is this! My bike is already getting rusty!”

Glock now looks likely to miss the final pre-season test at Barcelona, although a decision won't be taken until next week.
