Ford has abandoned its lawsuit against Ferrari over the use of the F150 tag, it has been confirmed.
Ferrari elected to use the F150 name this year to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. However Ford felt this infringed its copyright, as it has produced the best-selling F-150 pickup truck for a number of years. ]. As a result it has now emerged the 'Blue Oval' has filed papers in the US District Court in Detroit asking for the case to be dismissed.
“We are pleased we were able to resolve this issue amicably,” Ford spokeswoman Anne Marie Gattari told the Detroit Free Press
“This resolution ensures that Ford's famous and distinctive F-150 trademark will be protected.”
