The newly-unveiled Hispania Racing (HRT) F111 has been lauded as 'innovative and futuristic' in its design and 'a significant step forward' for the Spanish minnow - and a car that 'will bring much joy' to all those involved with the team.

HRT's maiden campaign of top flight competition in 2010 was hardly the most auspicious, with no pre-season testing at all leading to myriad early reliability woes that swiftly saw the team become the butt of many a paddock joke.

Whilst the reliability side of the equation improved over the course of the year - allowing Hispania to pip fellow F1 newcomer Virgin Racing to eleventh spot in the final constructors' standings and in so doing narrowly avoid the dreaded wooden spoon - performance-wise, there was little ostensible progress.

HRT management know that a stronger showing will be imperative in F1 2011, and whilst the late arrival of the F111 - the first of its cars to be designed 'in-house' following the ill-fated Dallara adventure of twelve months earlier - means the team will once again find itself on the back foot come the season curtain-raiser, there is a quiet confidence that the desired respectability can be achieved.

"It's been a tough winter, but we've managed to have a new car in a very short time," reflected team principal Colin Kolles. "The new car is definitely better than last year's one, and I hope that we will make further progress this year. We will have a better package aerodynamically and mechanically than in 2010.

"The F111 represents a significant step forward for Hispania Racing. We have made a big improvement for our second season in F1, and what you see in our new car confirms Hispania Racing's commitment to F1."

"I'm very proud of the hard work done by the team," added HRT president Jos? Ram?n Carabante. "This car is born out of the work done by a large number of people who form this team, Hispania Racing - the first-ever Spanish team in F1 history.

"The design is innovative and futuristic, it catches your eye, but we mustn't forget that it is also a step forward in technical terms. I'm sure that the F111 will bring much joy to those who believe and always have believed in the growth of this team. I can't wait for the season to begin, the second in our short yet intense history in F1."
