Mercedes boss Norbert Haug has branded Paul di Resta's start to his debut F1 season 'exceptional'.
The Scot has impressed many in the sport following his performances in the opening three flyaway races, and he came close to making it three points' finishes in a row in China last weekend.
“I think it is exceptional and remarkable what Paul has done so far,” Haug said. “To be in his third race and take eighth on that grid - that is very good, and very, very impressive, especially considering he did not get a lot of running in second practice.”
His comments have fuelled speculation di Resta, who is well known to Haug and Mercedes as he took the DTM drivers' title with them in 2010, could switch from Force India to Mercedes Grand Prix next season, especially as Michael Schumacher's comeback still isn't exactly going to plan.
“If Schumacher's nightmare F1 return continues any longer there is a possibility that he or Mercedes could decide to terminate their arrangement at the end of the season. And di Resta would be an obvious choice to step in,” wrote Daily Express
