Parr offered resignation

Adam Parr reveals he offered his resignation as Williams chairman after tough start to 2011
On the day that Williams confirmed that Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson are to leave their roles at the end of the season, team chairman Adam Parr has revealed that he also offered to resign after a troubled start to 2011 for the Grove-based outfit.

Williams has suffered its worst ever start to a season after failing to score a point in the first three races of the year, with newcomers Lotus, Virgin and Hispania the only other teams yet to register a points finish so far this season.

Michael and Tomlinson have already paid the price [See separate story HERE] but Parr has now revealed that he was prepared to also quit the team and tendered his resignation to shareholders Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Toto Wolff.

"Absolutely,' he replied in a teleconference when asked if he had considered his own role. “I tendered my resignation to Frank, Patrick and Toto. I am responsible and I took the responsibility to do whatever they wanted to do."

While confirmed that the offer had been turned down, Parr insisted that 'that doesn't mean I don't feel responsible for what happened'.

Although Parr will continue in the role he has held since 2006, Head is set to stand down from his position before the end of the year in a move which comes as no surprise after he sold more than half his shares when Williams floated on the stock market earlier in the year.

"Patrick has made it clear that he will be retiring this year, so at some point this year that will happen," Parr added. "That's nothing to do with the restructuring, it's just the fact that he's turning 65 and had already signalled that it's time for him to move on to his next set of interests in life."

'Frank'...what's new, such blokes run the country..he has the right school tie and is an ardent 'old boy' networker..looks back fondly at being the head boys 'fag'...limited entirely by his own ambition, and that of his families, but certainly NOT his talents, he's a future prime minister :)
