Webber: Unlikely I’d race elsewhere

Mark Webber says it is unlikely he would race for a team other than Red Bull in F1
Despite reports in the Italian press this week, Mark Webber says it is 'unlikely' that he would switch teams for the 2012 F1 season when his current deal with Red Bull comes to an end.

Webber is on a rolling contract with the team, with speculation about whether or not the 34-year-old would remain for another year [See separate story HERE].

While he admits that moving on could be one option for the future, the Australian said it was more likely that he would remain with Red Bull for another season having enjoyed the best years of his career since moving to the Milton Keynes-based team.

"I've three options - stay here, stop or drive somewhere else - which is probably unlikely," he was quoted by Sporting Life. "I am obviously in good contact with the team, and every year we've done the same.

"It's obviously a lot down to how I feel about things and we'll see how we feel later in the year. We haven't had too many discussions of yet, but obviously in the next few months things will start."

Webber also revealed that he came close to retiring from the sport prior to signing with Red Bull after a difficult period at Williams, with his success since then showing he made the right decision to keep his career going.

"I just didn't enjoy my time before I came here,” he said. “At Williams it was a tough fight for me, we know that. At that point I had to restart my career in a way which worked out very well, so obviously I made the right decision there.

"Since then I've taken it step by step which has been the right way for my mentality towards the job, and which probably also suits Red Bull quite well. There have been a lot of things that have happened in the last few years that have been big highlights for me, sensational moments.

"I hope I can add to those in the next few years and go from there. There are still a lot of big boxes to tick."

What makes you think that he'll stay in racing? He always come across as someone who has other interests and racing doesn't mean everything to him.
