Bernie Ecclestone could be facing a second control battle after reports that Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal is looking to gain full control of English football club Queens Park Rangers.
QPR were recently promoted into the Premier League with The Sun
reporting that Mittal was keen to take full control of the club – which would mean purchasing the stake owned by F1 commercial rights holder Ecclestone.
The 80-year-old insists however that he has no intention of selling his shares in the London-based club and likened Mittal's stance to that taken by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation group in its quest to secure control of F1 from CVC Capital.
"Mittal put a statement out to say he was going to buy all the shares on Monday," Ecclestone told Reuters
. "But it's a bit like these Murdoch people saying they're going to buy CVC.
"They've forgotten to ask if it's for sale."
