Petrov disappointed with zero score

Vitaly Petrov endures a difficult race in Spain as he fails to score at Catalunya
While team-mate Nick Heidfeld came through the field to finish eighth, Renault's Vitaly Petrov admitted he was disappointed at failing to add to his own tally during the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Russian started the race from sixth on the grid and made up a place at the start to run fifth through the opening stint.

However, as the race wore on, Petrov slipped back down the order and could only take the chequered outside the points in eleventh place.

“I am naturally disappointed not to make better use of my grid position and not pick up some points,” he said. “It seems that my qualifying position had little effect for the race today, so we need to analyse in detail exactly why that happened. I managed to start ok and move up a position into fifth, but it was then difficult to get to the leading pack, which is where we want to be.

“But, this is one result and one result only and I want to put things right in Monaco, where qualifying will be extremely important. Of that there is little doubt. At least as a team we picked up some more points with Nick, so we must take the positives and move forwards.”

Team boss Eric Boullier admitted it had been a frustrating race for the youngster.

“I think frustrated is the right word to describe Vitaly's result, because yesterday he could have been even faster on his qualifying lap,” he said. “And then today, even when he was in a promising position at sixth on the grid, he dropped down some places, which was not what we expected.”

Yeah - not too much to say about VP today - just a bad race alround - like he just was'nt feeling it !!. Sometimes you have these days - not like he totally sucked - like Alonso - just a bad day .Glad to see NH run an awsome race to uphold the honours for Renault . Lets hope a good qualifier at Monaco brings him back up to speed .
