Renault upgrades F1 facilities

Renault looks to take the fight to Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari et al and confirms 'investments in the future' with upgrades to its wind tunnel, a new faster CFD Supercomputer and a driver simulator.

Lotus Renault GP has confirmed it has made 'three significant investments' this year at its factory in Enstone in a bid to 'guarantee' that the squad will 'continue to climb back to the top and remain a competitive force' in F1 for years to come.

In a statement on the team's website it was revealed that the outfit has completed further upgrades on its wind tunnel, 'modifying the tunnel to accommodate a bigger model and installing a much more capable 60 percent scale model into it', as well as investing in a new 'state of the art' driving simulator and new 'faster CFD [Computational Fluid Dynamics] Supercomputer'.

The driving simulator is due to come online towards the end of the season, Renault added, while the upgraded wind tunnel and upgrades to the CFD Supercomputer are already being utilised.
