Sutil calm over F1 future

Force India's Adrian Sutil vows to clear his name as criminal complaint is made over Chinese Grand Prix incident
Adrian Sutil says he isn't worried about losing his drive with Force India despite the announcement that Genii Capital CEO Eric Lux has filed a criminal complaint against him.

Sutil and Lux were involved in an 'incident' in a nightclub during the Chinese Grand Prix weekend which resulted in Lux being injured.

Sutil subsequently issued a statement confirming that he had 'hurt someone unintentionally' while at a private party, but Lux has now gone ahead with a threat to launch legal action over the incident in lodging a complaint with prosecutors for physical assault and grievous bodily harm.

Force India boss Vijay Mallya had said he would only look into Sutil's future 'if and when' his driver was charged, but Sutil said he wasn't worried about losing his position over what is a private matter, with the 28-year-old fully-prepared to defend himself in court if the complaint goes that far.

“What will happen to me?” he told the news agency SID. “Why should I lose my seat? This is a private matter, my job is driving.

“I'm fine, I am able to focus on my job. I was prepared for whatever was coming, it was just funny that it took so long... We want the truth, absolutely. I hope it will come to light soon. I am ready to defend myself.”

Quoted separately by the BBC, the German reiterated those sentiments, adding that he had yet to receive anything in writing with regard to the criminal complaint.

“What can I say?” he mused. “I have to concentrate on my job, and if he (Lux) does [file a complaint], then we can of course go to court. The story came out this morning. To be honest, I didn't read it until the last few minutes prior to speaking to you guys [the media]. You know before me – that's your job.

“Everything else we will find out. First of all, I have to know what is going on. I will speak with my manager (Manfred Zimmermann) and see what is next. It depends on what is the truth. We want to hear the truth, and we hope we are going to know that very soon.”
