Toro Rosso test driver Daniel Ricciardo could be set for an F1 race debut in the British Grand Prix after reports in the Australian press suggested he will join countryman Mark Webber on the grid for the Silverstone event.

Ricciardo has been linked with a move into a race seat with Toro Rosso on the back of a series of impressive performances in Friday practice, with Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi both seen to be under pressure and at risk of losing their drives.

However, reports from both speedcafe.com and Perth Now have said that Ricciardo's F1 debut will in fact come with backmarkers Hispania, after a deal was agreed that will see Red Bull 'loan' the youngster to the Spanish team.

The reports suggest that Ricciardo will take the place of Narain Karthikeyan from Silverstone onwards although the Indian driver would make a return for his home round of the campaign in October.

As yet, there has been no comment from Hispania or Red Bull into the reports, which claim that official confirmation of the deal will be made later today [Thursday].
