Hamilton: The Nurburgring will bite

Lewis Hamilton insists that the Nurburgring 'will bite' during the German Grand Prix if drivers aren't careful
Lewis Hamilton insists that the Nurburgring is a circuit that deserves respect ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix.

The McLaren drivers two previous outings at the Eifel circuit have been action-packed, with the 2007 race being affected by heavy rain and a first lap clash in 2009 leading to a puncture that damaged his car.

It means the Briton has yet to score at the Nurburgring since joining the F1 grid and he admitted that it was a circuit where nothing can be taken for granted as he looks to end that run this weekend.

“[I know] never to make predictions when you come to the Nurburgring,” he said. “The current circuit may be less epic than the original 14-mile layout, and certainly a lot safer, but it can still bite you. And the weather can turn in a matter of moments – you can have all the seasons in one afternoon.

“When that happens, I know I can rely on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team to react quickly and decisively.

“Another thing you can be sure of is that there will be a fantastic atmosphere. The local fans know how to party and they always enjoy themselves, whatever the weather!”
