Schumacher slams retirement stories as 'stupid' and 'untruthful'

Michael Schumacher: Despite some funny rumours and stupid untruthful stories, I keep repeating myself, that you will see me in 2012. I will be here.
Michael Schumacher has rubbished speculation he might not continue in F1 next year with Mercedes.

Reports the seven-time F1 world champion might elect to cut short his three-year F1 return and hang up his helmet again come the end of the current campaign broke last week after he conceded that if 'anything, I am the problem' [see separate story - click here].

However speaking during the 'Magic Moments' function in Stuttgart, an event where Mercedes-Benz was celebrating 125 years of the automobile, the 42-year-old said he will 'definitely' be racing in 2012.

“Yeah, despite some funny rumours and stupid untruthful stories, I keep repeating myself, that you will see me in 2012,” he continued.

“I will be here and the good thing is I have a lot of support from all around, in particular from the company and in particular from the team, they all wish for me to be here and I wish to be here. I am looking forward to it.”

Asked what will happen after 2012, Schumacher noted that at the moment it is too early to say.

“We will have to see how things develop and how much energy and fun is still there,” he explained.

As for his hopes for next season, he isn't expecting any miracles: “It would be presumptuous if one expects us to fight for the title next year, at the moment we are too far behind.”

Damn right! As all his supporters knew, Schumi is no quitter! And he will continue and see out his contract... The problem is not with him, it is with the car, that much is obvious... Brawn and his cronies need to sort themselves to build this man a competitie car for 2012... Wouldnt it be fantastic to see Schumi battling it out on a regular basis with Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton?
