Gallagher to leave Cosworth position

Reports suggest Mark Gallagher is to leave his position with Cosworth
Mark Gallagher is to leave his role as general manager of Cosworth's F1 business unit after two years.

Gallagher joined the company when it made a return to the F1 grid last season having spent a number of years previous to that running the Irish team in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

Gallagher is also a co-owner of the Status Grand Prix team currently competing in GP3 and he said a desire to work on other projects was behind the decision to relinquish his role.

"It has been a great privilege to run Cosworth's F1 business for over two years and work with such talented people," he was quoted by Grandprix, com. "Next year will be my 30th in professional motorsport and I have a number of ambitions for the future, hence my decision to move on.

"They include helping Status Grand Prix and my partners Teddy Yip and David Kennedy to achieve their objectives in GP3 and beyond. It has been very rewarding to play my part in Cosworth's return to F1 and I wish the company, its management and staff every success for the future."
