Two of the man made scapegoat for Ferrari's failing over the last twelve months could be reunited at one of the Scuderia's closest rivals, if paddock rumours are true.
Both Chris Dyer, who fell on his sword after Fernando Alonso failed to carry off the F1 world title in Abu Dhabi last season, and Aldo Costa, who was the fall guy after the team's slow start to the 2011 campaign, have both been linked to future roles at Mercedes GP. Both are former disciples of Ross Brawn's time at Ferrari, and would fit nicely with the Briton's attempt to take Mercedes back to heights it enjoyed under the eponymous Brawn GP banner two years ago.
Dyer's presence in the Monza paddock was his first since the end of last year, and several sources, including Italy's Autosprint
and Finland's Turun Sanomat
have linked the 42-year old Australian - who worked with champions Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen before taking the helm of Alonso's maiden Ferrari campaign - with Mercedes.
also put Costa and Mercedes together, despite the Scuderia's former technical director currently being on enforced 'gardening leave', with suggestions that the Italian would be hired to oversee the team's existing engineering corps.
Neither man was prepared to comment on the speculation, or on their troubles with Ferrari.
The Prancing Horse, meanwhile, has dismissed claims that it ought to adopt a more individual-centric structure, as used by F1 frontrunners Red Bull, which places designer Adrian Newey firmly at the head of its technical pyramid. The Scuderia, according to team principal Stefano Domenicali, will retain its 'balanced' set-up, which the Italian believes will make it strong for the longer term.
