Stars confirmed for Massa kart event

Entry list shows strong grand prix presence expected at Brazilian's annual charity bash.
F1 drivers past and present are queuing up to headline Felipe Massa's annual karting event in Brazil in December, with no fewer than seven current grid-fillers on the entry list.

The 2011 event looks set to attract its highest-ever quota of grand prix stars, with Massa being joined on the provisional entry by Adrian Sutil, Pastor Maldonado, Rubens Barrichello, Bruno Senna, Jaime Alguersuari and Vitantonio Liuzzi. In addition, at least six other drivers with F1 ties will take part, including former drivers Christian Fittipaldi, Antonio Pizzonia, Ricardo Zonta and Luciano Burti, current Pirelli development driver Lucas di Grassi and F1 protégé Jules Bianchi. Sébastien Buemi and Sergio Perez, meanwhile, could yet be added to the list, having shown an interest in joining the fray, but there does not appear to be an invitation for Lewis Hamilton.....

The rest of the 27-strong field is made up of Brazilian aces racing in a variety of series around the globe, including IndyCar's Tony Kanaan, Hélio Castroneves, Vítor Meira and Bia Figueiredo, who won the second leg of last year's event. MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo is another stand-out on the entry, and will make his debut alongside 15-year old Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of double F1 world champion Emerson.

The International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs takes place over 2-4 December at Arena Sapiens in Florianópolis.
