Webber laments poor qualifying

Mark Webber provided another spirited drive to fourth after the Aussie qualified a disappointing sixth, but was left to rue a lack of overtaking which limited his progress
Red Bull's Mark Webber yet again posted another feisty drive following his fourth place finish in today's Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Webber, who qualified sixth in yesterday's qualifying, was able to get the better of Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa after the Aussie displayed some strong pace during today's race. However, his progress was always going to be somewhat hampered due to the lack of overtaking partly due to DRS zone's dubious positioning, meaning Webber had to get the job done during the pit stop phase of the race.

"I enjoyed it out there," he said. "Unfortunately most of the racing was done in the pits because it's difficult to overtake at Suzuka, but it was still an enjoyable race because it's such a fantastic racetrack. Suzuka is one of the best tracks in the world, you could drive around it all day."

Webber was complimentary of his Red Bull, although the nature of the Suzuka meant his car was strong in the wrong places in relation to the Ferraris.

"My first stint was very strong," he said. "But unfortunately I was quick in all the wrong places. I was very fast through sector 1, but found it harder to stay close to Fernando and Felipe through spoon, which gave them a gap on the run up to 130R."

The Aussie also blamed a similar tyre wear rate for the front runners as well as the lack of DRS passing opportunities for his lack of progress.

"The DRS didn't really work for any of us today, and tyre wear was pretty similar among the front runners."

107SS2009 .. Mark is a old F1 war dog. A very good competitor, better than most. A solid member of the top five. I hoed he would take the fight to Vettel, for the most that didn't happen. Statement 'Having no choice' could mean many things. Willing to bet it is not in the context of the 'game' you are trying to play here. What Webber really needs is a Passionate kiss from Lady Luck. He has that Hollywood Clint Eastwood look..One real cool Dude! Jose
